Imagine seeing an image so compelling you cannot look away, then you realize it was painted with thousands of tiny strokes. At the age of two, Karen was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy 1 and has developed a unique watercolor style due to the limited range of motion in her hands. What would be a disability to some, instead helps Karen create watercolors that are unlike anything else. Through her watercolor paintings, Karen Wheeler is able to capture the essence of her subject and reincarnate it’s spirit on paper. Karen’s artwork is said to have a life-like quality because of her unique perspective on reality. By devoting hundreds of hours to a painting, Karen is able to captivate the viewers’ imagination and transport them into the world of the whimsical.
